Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna, being the part of Nandi awards committee but securing best actor award for Legend film, has immensely been lambasted by critics and most of the movie lovers.
Nandamuri fans, however, came into a strange defence as part of rescuing their hero from the ongoing chaos. They alleged that Balakrishna hadn't won Nandi award in spite of his father late NTR was rendering his responsibilities as a CM of united AP between the years 1983 and 1989. This proves the honesty of Balakrishna and transparency of then government," says a fan.
But then, senior movie lovers and critics contradict with fans. According to them, Balayya made his debut in 1984 with Sahasame Jeevitham. During the early days of his career, he would show immature performance. Moreover, most of his films were filled with double meaning dialogues then. Of course, the Natasimham changed his style later.
On the other hand, late NTR wouldn't get satisfied if anyone shows below par performance in his movies. He also thought of Balayya would still need better acting prowess. These factors might have been the reasons for no award of Balakrishna during NTR's tenure as a CM.
There is another argument that Balakrishna didn't get Nandi for Samarasimha Reddy in 1999 irrespective of TDP's government. However, in those days there was no such practice complete commercial entertainers were given away Nandi awards. if so, Megastar Chiranjeevi and others would have got Nandi awards every year for their commercial blockbusters.
However, Chandrababu Naidu's government did a great favour conferring Nandi award to Balakrishna for Narasimha Naidu in 2001. And this was a path breaking step by TDP for giving away the award to Balakrishna for a complete commercial potboiler.
