The Goods and Service Tax (GST) is not going well with the Tamil film fraternity. With the state government not heeding to the demands of the Kollywood industry, there seems to be a wide spread anger zooming across the state.
From Monday all the theatres in TN were shut down protesting the hike in taxation.
Several movie artists and technicians along with the production houses are furious with the lackluster response from the Tamil Nadu state government.
Today, Rajinikanth took to his twitter handle and expressed his concerns.
Rajinikanth tweeted, Keeping in mind the livelihood of lakhs of people in Tamil Film Industry, I sincerely request the TN Govt to seriously consider our plea.
When all the state governments are complying with the burden on tax and how it could vastly affect the industry, it is time Tamil Nadu Government take a stand seriously and work towards the welfare of the movie industry.
Inside sources say that if Amma would have been alive, she would have worked towards the sentiments of people and abolish the State GST.
Moreover, it is high time for the big wigs of the industry to come out openly and make the government look into their demands.
We think this is more important than other recent problems like Jallikattu and timely is the response from super star.
