Just a month ago we had WannaCry or WannaCrypt ransomware affecting over 150 countries and more than 2, 20, 000 computers across the globe. The most badly hit were German State Railways, UK’s national health service and Spain’s Telefonica.

Now, we have a new ransomware named Petya striking companies across Europe and US. The most hardly hit companies by Petya Ransomware is the Ukraine Government, electricity and banks.

Even countries like France and Denmark are hit.

In US, Pittsburg city of Pennsylvania State is one among the most affected by this ransomware attack.

They demand a ransom worth $300 in Bitcoin with a message displaying on the desktop.

Those who heed to their demands are asked to send the payment confirmation in an email. But the email provider has shut down the email address.

This makes Pentya ransomware more frustrating as there is no more a way to decrypt or unlock the computer.

This also has the capability to get into the network administration tools and spread rapidly across the organization.

Ukraine blamed Russia for the previous cyber attacks, however Russia denied the allegations.

One of the security agency termed that this attack is much like a flu epidemic in winter which could increase in coming months.

The growing fight against the cyber attacks is witnessing a spending of more than 30 times within a decade.
