July 1 Threatening DJ?

Upcoming July 1 is likely to threaten Dj Duvvada Jagannadham's team. Do you predict the film might see a dip in collections and that's why the team gets threatened? No way, the film, in fact, has a solid run at the box office and it maybe continued for longer even though for partial dip is recorded. Moreover, the film nears break even then.

In such case, which factor makes DJ team maybe worrying about? The union government's new tax system GST comes into force from July 1. From then on, film tickets which are priced more than Rs.100 will be taxed to 28% while the tax to be levied to ticket prices below Rs.100 would be confined to 18%. DJ will be the first film to get affected with new tax system. Of course, not only DJ but also every film will fall under GST from July 1. It remains to be seen if this new tax system helps or harms Telugu films.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Telangana government would be issuing a G.O. which reads the highest price of a film in single screens would be limited to Rs.120 while the lowest rate was fixed at Rs.40.
