Is Raabta, a Magadheera rip off? This is the discussion ruling many groups in Telugu film circles ever since Raabta trailer was released. Later on, Magadheera producer Allu Aravind knocked legal doors petitioning to stop the release of Raabta on June 9th.
Finally, Allu Aravind saw Raabta at a special screening and decided to withdraw his injunction request and copyright infringement allegations made. So, the film starring Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput will grace theatres on 9th June 2017.
According to official reports, Raabta makers argued for over 5 hours in court from last two days citing the differences in the script, storyline between Raabta and Magadheera. Basically, lawyers argued on background of the lead characters, storyline development, role of villain, foreign locations and most importantly the finale of the film is completely and materially different from Magadheera.
Magadheera producer’s concern on iconic 100 warrior scene in Raabta is completely unfound because there was no such scene either in their film or the trailer. On random similarities, Raabta makers pointed that these themes are generic to every film made on the reincarnation of two lovers. Examples are quoted for films like Prem, Hameshaa, Om Shanti Om, Kudrat etc.
Hearing both the versions from either sides; court has finally thrown out the case and Raabta is set for a release on June 9th as per the scheduled time as an amicable solution was found between two producers out of the court.
