This generation of Telugu film directors relied more on slap stick comedy which is believed as entertainment for us. Addicted Telugu audience went on accepting the same because they lost hopes on re-birth of Jandhyala or EVV Satyanarayana.
Simultaneously with Bakara comedy, one specific section of community that is Brahmin family set up is exhaustively used in satirical sense to generate fun in the movies. It is unfortunate that many a times, the trick worked for film makers. Following agitations or voices of Brahmin Associations on hurting their sentiments and beliefs went unheard in the light of commercial success.
Ironically, writers and directors are still juicing on the same flavor. It is dismal that a bunch of films already lying on sets are commencing with foreign schedules too. Amidst such unruly trend, here comes Dj – Duvvada Jagnnadham trailer pleasing the victimized Brahmin caste.
‘After watching Dj trailer, we felt that for first time a Telugu cinema is projecting Brahmin guy as a powerful hero without embarrassing us. Hopefully, director Harish Shankar and producer Dil Raju won’t play with our mawkish feelings,’ a Brahmin friend commented.
Although, there are films in past Brahmin heroism is elevated decently but a mainstream commercial star hero attempting on same element makes Dj a very very special case.
