‘Mahanadi’ is a special career enriching film for Kamal Hasan. The grief of a humble villager cheated by an urban mediator followed by corruption, child trafficking, ‘Mahanadi’ story, screenplay and performances saw huge critical applause in Santhana Bharathi direction while Sukanya played female lead in 1994. It was later dubbed in Telugu under same title.
23 years down the time lane, Sanjay Dutt is planning to do ‘Sadak’ sequel as ‘Sadak 2’ largely inspired by ‘Mahanadi’ story. While Dutt will reprise Kamal Hasan character, Alia Bhatt is most likely to play his daughter, forcibly roped into flesh trade.
Set in contemporary times, ‘Sadak 2’ might have the same ‘Mahanadi’ plot but with a changed time period and nativity because procuring female children and and relocating them for the purpose of sexual exploitation is most vogue in present period. Alia Bhatt is a strong performer and such films can do whole lot of good to her career.
It is merely coincidental that ‘Sadak’ had Pooja Bhatt as heroine and ‘Sadak 2’ to have half sibling Ali Bhatt.
