As experts say, story and screenplay are the important and essential elements to make a movie click in terms of adoration and currency. Despite having a scintillating star cast and mind blowing technicians, when a director fails in engaging the audience with content, result could be as dismal as yesterday released ‘Cheliyaa.’
Yes, director Mani Ratnam is the one receiving maximum blame for offering a hopeless, boring and exhaustive film ‘Cheliyaa’ though he had Karthi, Aditi Rao Hydari tearing the screen with their performances and Ravi Varman’s cinematography, AR Rahman’s musical score lifting a dead pan storyline to a new high.
Had there been little more or minimum efforts from Mani Ratnam at story and character etching, ‘Cheliyaa’ can be nothing less than his past classics.
What’s more tragic is Mani Ratnam himself produced ‘Cheliyaa’ on home banner Madras Talkies while Dil Raju just helped them in arranging a best possible release strategy in Telugu states.
