Like any other business, movie making is firmly connected with financial transactions. There are various means of acquiring a movie's rights. If at all the buyers incur losses with the films they bought, they can request the makers to get some percentages of advances are paid back. They are not entitled to demand to get their advances back.

As we know, Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth returned some money to the buyers who bought 'Baba' for hectic prices and incurred heavy losses long back. Thereafter, it has become a common practice in Tamil Nadu, the buyers are protesting for their losses compensated with Rajini's films. As such, it appeared Rajini made a self goal with his decision of paying  buyers advances back.

"The buyers are demanding their money back. But then, will the same buyers offer a share of their profits to the producers when the film bought by them scores a hit?" a question was thrown by some of the observers. A valid question which deserves a sensible reply!
