Critics Judgement Vs Common Audience Verdict

The statement is proved yet again. Verdict from critics and reviewers isn’t the final. Many films with poor ratings and negative reviews have passed the litmus BO test positively while those with good ratings and positive reviews failed miserably in connecting with common audience.

Two of the latest and contrasting examples are comedian turned hero Sapthagiri’s ‘Sapthagiri Express’ and Nara Rohit, Sree Vishnu’s ‘Appatlo Okadundevadu.’ While the first is rated as an outdated product with atrocious treatment and bad debut for Sapthagiri, appreciations poured in for Sree Vishnu calling AO as cult film.

If the final financial matters come to analysis, ‘Sapthagiri Express’ picked up strongly in B, C centers running towards a decent share, ‘Appatlo Okadundevadu’ never stood up to critics verdict. In turn, it’s a tough luck for Rohit to recover the investment. Bottom line is transparent, stories that are universal are faring well while the rest with pathos are outright rejected. Similar was the case with ‘Manamantha’ and ‘Jyo Achyuthananda.’
