Maverick Ram Gopal Varma is expert at picking odd subjects which garners public interest and excitement instantly. One such is his upcoming project ‘Vangaveeti’ set for a massive release within this week.
Apparently, ‘Vangaveeti’ is based on real happenings in 1970s and 80s when Vijayawada caste based politics was filled with bloodshed and hooliganism. Curious case of this controversial flick is there is a danger of Kamma, Kapu rivalry and group wars in this region can be re-started if RGV provokes them with his film’s content.
Most interestingly, RGV did not use cinematic names in this narrative. Names of Vangaveeti and Devineni family members including that of selfish political role played by CM NTR during those times is also reportedly presented without any fact distortion.
Trying to clear all the objections raised by Devineni, Vangaveeti family members; Varma had a meeting recently in Vijayawada with mediation by Kodali Nani before audio launch function. However, it ended in deadlock but RGV isn’t ready to succumb for the threats and went for censor certification receiving A without any cuts recommended.
Producer Dasari Kiran Kumar is said to be arranging for a massive release of ‘Vangaveeti’ in nearly 500+ screens within the two Telugu states on 23rd. Let’s see, will this film ignite new violence in Krishna district or pass off as one more publicity stunt by RGV.
