What comes as one more huge shocker post the announcement of demonetization, the new denominations of Rs.500, consisting two variants, found to be defective. And more shockingly, RBI, itself, admitted the notes were defective.
RBI spokesperson Alpana Killawala, said: "It is likely that notes with printing defect has got released due to the current rush. However, people can freely accept such a note in transaction or return it to RBI."
Reports are it that there is more than visible shadow of Gandhi's face, besides alignment issues with the national emblem on the note and even serial numbers. And more unfortunately, these defects are likely to invite counterfeit currency which is actually wanted to be curbed by the union government.
