Big news of today is that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben visited a bank's branch at Gandhi Nagar of Gujarat state to exchange Rs.4500 worth of currency notes that her son has demonetized. This 96 year old lady, who came on wheel chair, was seen accompanied by two women helpers at the bank.
Heeraben's entry at the bank led heated arguments among the activists of ruling and opposition parties in social media. While the BJP admirers felt her presence at the bank indicated Modi had been honest on his decision, opposition parties lambasted Modi pointing out the following factors.
* Heeraben has six sons and a couple of grand children. Why there was no one to exchange her currency?
* Why such hungama of media and photographers at the very sight of Heeraben? Isn't it a sort of publicity stunt for the political gain of the PM and his party?
* Some days ago, Modi tweeted, ""Those involved in big scams, now have to stand in long queues to take out Rs. 4000." What will he say now?
