Demonetization:: Can This Curb Petty Corruption?

Loksatta Party's head Jayaprakash Narayan has viewed Demonetization as a futile exercise unless the corruption in government offices is curbed. He expressed his views on Demonetization and suggested the ways how to curb corruption in offices. Following are the excerpts of his speech.

* 95% of the corruption is from government offices. If you go to government offices for land records, pattadar passbooks, birth certificates, ration cards, house building plan approval and if you go police stations to get FIRs registered, you need to bribe else you will be harassed. 

* The government should bring in 'Service Delivery Law'. Every service should be time bound and penalties should be imposed as a compensation for citizen. 

* Corrupted employees should be identified and should be punished. 

* Unfortunately, Modi government is doing something terribly unwise. They have proposed an amendment which is in final stages. According to this act, the bribe giver must be given 7 years imprisonment of which 3 years should be made mandatory. In contrast, the bribe taker will not even be investigated. This law should be changed. 

* Unless the government makes these changes, demonetization will go useless.

Meanwhile, ace director Rajamouli had all praises for JP's advises. "Fantastic and Long due sir..Such clarity in so few words....Thank you," he tweeted.
