The AP government has successfully organized Godavari and Krishna Pushkaralu in two successive years 2015 and 2016. However, the government spent more than 2500 crores of tax payers money to gain politically to the greater levels. Especially, Rs.1600 crores were incurred for Krishna Pushkaralu.
An interesting fact is that Godavari Pushkaralu became far bigger than Krishna Pushkaralu. According to a leading Telugu daily's report, 4.92 crores of pilgrims took holy dip in various ghats on the banks of river Godavari. In contrast, Krishna Pushkara ghats were visited by 1.94 crores of pilgrims.
Incidentally, the home minister and deputy CM of the state, Nimmakayala Chinarajappa admitted that Godavari Pushkaralu had more significance for ages than Krishna Pushkaralu. Besides, the state government declared two consecutive holidays to the government employees during Godavari Pushkaralu across the state whereas the employees could get that opportunity during Krishna Pushkaralu. Whatsoever, people of residual government wish that future governments would not waste public money for next pushkaralu of Godavari and Krishna.
