If we prompt on selected few young female artists in current Telugu cinema who are real powerhouse performers capable of running away with single handed credits pushing heroes and directors away, then Nithya Menon stands strong in the list. The ultimately talented Mallu heroine raked an image distinctively different from regular commercial heroines and her selection always remained atypical.
However, Nithya appeared to be missing the limelight in Tollywood from last few months. She hasn’t signed any big films and prosperous roles matching her caliber. Anyways, this week’s last release ‘Okka Ammayi Thappa’ is receiving brickbats not just for weak scripting by debutant Rajasimha but for utter failure in exploiting the best from Nithya.
This is exactly the time when heroines like Samanta, Kajal and Tamanna are proving themselves as glamour centric heroines. Alone Nithya is recognized as a heroine with rare skill which can’t be beaten by other contemporaries. Films like OAT surely damage Nithya’s reputation and critics being harsh towards her exhibit their respect and adoration for her.
