May it be the significant and the best strategic move taken up by the Congress party post general elections focusing on the burning problem of AP. The AICC president Sonia Gandhi, yesterday, issued a whip to its Rajya Sabha members. She directed the MPs to participate in the voting process of the private bill on AP's special category status introduced by party's MP KVP Ramachandra Rao. All the members were further directed to go positive with the bill on 13th of this month.
With the Congress party introducing the bill on special status, the party has gone a step forward among other political parties who are demanding AP's special status. Moreover, Congress' introducing a bill on special status has become a huge shocker to the political parties such as TDP, BJP and Power Star Pawan Kalyan led Janasena.
TDP has been maintaining dual standards on AP's special status for the past couple of months. They are not in a position to withdraw support to the ruling BJP at the center. Sadly, yellow media also never forced the TDP to fight for the special status. It remains to be seen which turn is to be taken up by TDP's MPs in Rajya Sabha. If at all they vote for special status, it can be said TDP going against the will of the BJP. If the TDP's MPs do not cast their votes, they could be termed as AP's betrayers. BJP will also be facing the similar problem. Pawan Kalyan, on the other hand, is maintaining staunch rivalry on the Congress party. His response on Congress' initiation of special category status is awaited.
