Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth's heroism worked out a big time apart from its horror element in 'Chandramukhi' released in 2005. Post 'Chandramukhi', only one film of Rajinikanth got blockbuster status which was top director Shankar's techno-wonder 'Robo'. Apart from Rajini's heroism, Shankar's magic and high end VFX made the movie a runaway success.
Rajini and Shankar's combo film 'Sivaji' stood as an above average grosser at the box office. Both Rajini and director Shankar were equally appreciated by the critics.
However, Rajini's recent ventures 'Vikramasimha' (Kochadaiyaan) and 'Lingaa' were failed at the ticket windows. He did cameo appearances in 'Kathanayakudu' and 'Ra.One'. Both these films were flopped at the box office.
Rajinikanth's upcoming film 'Kabali' will be releasing soon. The teaser of the film received stunning response from the movie lovers. Rajini's mannerisms reminded his performance in old films. Rajini's critics expressed doubts on his charisma in the recent past with some of his movies scored duds while the successes of other films were shared by the directors and graphics. If at all, 'Kabali' gets a blockbuster result, it will be a powerful retort to those critics.
