Chiranjeevi’s disappearance from cinema world has put the pressure on Pawan Kalyan, Ramcharan, Allu Arjun and other Mega family heroes to take the legacy forward. Till some time back, everything looked good and healthy as Mega camp heroes showed their undisputed domination on Box Office with unmatched support from Mega Fans. Apparently, there is a heavy backlash from common audience and especially critics directed at outdated stories and out of control budgets of Mega films.

Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’ is heavily criticized for unnecessary expenditure and outworn story, treatment. The film failed to stand up with audience expectations and result was the biggest disaster registered in Power Star name.

Ramcharan is also in the same grove. His ‘Govindudu Andarivadele’ and ‘Bruce Lee’ are two foolish attempts where Charan clearly lost his touch. Taxing him-self to jump over the monotonous rope of mass heroism, Ramcharan degraded his image. Now, he teamed up with flop director Surender Reddy for ‘Dhruva’ coming as a remake to Tamil hit ‘Thani Oruvan.’ Yet again, he is criticized for dependence on bygone scripts.

Now, it was Allu Arjun’s turn with ‘Sarrainodu’ to rise on the occasion. However, critics have thrown strong brickbats at movie calling it as Oora Mass and regressive action entertainer nowhere close to contemporary Telugu cinema standards. After huge hits in ‘Race Gurram’ and ‘S/O Sathya Murthy,’ this movie has still to go a long way to join besides them. So, Bunny’s selection is also found fault with.

Among the upcoming Mega family band, Sai Dharam Tej, Varun Tej and Allu Sirish or even Konidela Niharika is yet to register a blockbuster on their names.

Basic problems Mega heroes are suffering with can be underlined in their bad story, script selection showing rigidity to adopt with new trends. In the name of commercial cinema, they are banking on 1980 and 90 strategies while present day stars like Mahesh Babu with SVSC, Srimanthudu and Junior NTR with Nannaku Prematho are setting new benchmarks.

Time for Charan, Pawan and Bunny to cross there self created hurdles. Instead of accepting the scripts, directors with a non-functional mindset, they should welcome creative and sensitive originality from all corners of industry. Although, results may not usher in so quickly but repairs have to be initiated at some point and there’s no better time than this to cure the sufferings.
