‘Oopiri,’ the most promising film rated very high by critics and class audience is sailing consistently at Box Office. From Vamsy Paidipally, Prasad V Potluri, Nagarjuna and Karthi worked as a team, the film is appreciated unanimously all over in every form of media. However, the revenues at Box Office aren’t perfect reflective of critics’ praiseworthiness because ‘Oopiri’ raked just Rs. 13 Crores till its first weekend.
This could be the distinctive difference between class and mass movies. ‘Oopiri’ is a class flick with masterly slow narrative devoid of action, masala ingredients. In fact, Nag’s last release ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ was received with enormous overflowing crowds in its first weekend and it went on to become a blockbuster joining in Rs.50 Crores club because of commercial treatment.
‘Oopiri’ is sure to remain a special film in Nagarjuna career. On Box Office terms, the current projections rate it as above average which might hardly join in Rs. 30 Crores club. Except Overseas Telugu audience, reception from domestic viewers remained below expectations. Tamil version ‘Tozha’ revenues have been far weaker. PVP should swim against the tide to atleast breakeven.
