No Such Names for AP's Capital!

Earlier, it was heard that some caste based names maybe confirmed for AP's new capital Tullur. However, according to the latest reports, the officials have dropped the idea of giving such names and are currently contemplating to confirm the name 'Amaravahi'. Amaravathi, is actually a town located 19 miles North of Guntur. This town has the historical significance. Buddhism was spread in Amaravathi and its surroundings in the 2nd century BCE. 

Meanwhile, Amaravathi name was supported by the farmers who gave away their three-crop yielding valuable fertile lands to the government under land pooling. " The idea of locating AP's capital in Tullur itself is a caste based one. So, caste based name is not specially required now," says a farmer of Tullur.
