It was a suicidal decision from Ramcharan to accept the remake of ‘Zanjeer’ as his Bollywood launch film because of different reasons one can extract watching the newer one and the original. Of course, there is no way one can compare Ramcharan’s abilities with that of Amitabh Bachchan but at the same time comparisons between the old and new will obviously happen in the market, especially in North India where Big B is treated as nothing less than a god.
Coming to the core, half of the negative talk spreading on Charan’s ‘Zanjeer’ should be credited to Amitabh Bachchan. The character of ACP Vijay Khanna has become iconic because of realistic portrayal by Big B with his tall figure, always on a slow boil which is made more ferocious with burning eyes and a never seen smiling face. In contrast, director Apoorva Lakhia made Ramcharan to do all the opposite things. Yet, we can say that Mega Power Star has given a decent performance. But result is, critics are bashing not just the film and even Charan who is rated as a BO performer in Tollywood is teared apart. The standards set for ACP Vijay Khanna by Big B indirectly killed the Ramcharan ‘Zanjeer.’
