The Government of India on Friday, 12th April, has announced the highest award for Indian Cinema, Dada Saheb Phalke Award to renowned character artist and villain of Hindi Cinema, Pran.
Born on Februaty 12, 1920, Pran was seen in around 350 movies. Some of the movies in which Pran played important roles are 'Zanjeer', 'Upkaar', 'Zis Desh Mai Ganga Behti Hai', 'Andha Kanoon', 'Bobby' etc. In 2001, Pran was honoured with Padma Bhushan Award by the Government of India. In 1967 and 1969, he bagged the Film Fare Best Supporting Actor Awards. In 1997, he was conferred with Film Fare's Lifetime Achievement Award.
