82 years of Indian film industry witnessed thousands of film magazines with different titles in different languages. However, there are only a few magazines which run only through the star power of particular star heroes. Long ago, eminent detective writer and director of films, Vijayabapineedu' ran a magazine with the title 'Chiranjeevi'. The magazine used to publish exclusive news and photos of Chiranjeevi. Vijayabapineedu ran the magazine for five years from 1989 to 1994. The magazine consisted of all oil print pages and its price was Rs.20 in those days.

Later, some of the Chiranjeevi's fans from West Godavari district launched a magazine titled 'Megapower' in the year, 2001.  The magazine has been a great success among Chiranjeevi's fans as well as movie goers. Thereafter, this monthly magazine has been surviving successfully without interruption. Print media is facing many setbacks these days. However, the editors of the magazine swerved not and continued to release the magazine every month, some times without profits.

The success of 'Megapower' led the release of many fan based magazines of different heroes of AP and other states. However, they couldn't sustain much time and soon many of them disappeared. "Perhaps, 'Megapower' is the oldest fan based magazine running in India now and this is number one fans magazine at present," says a book seller. Anyways, the success of 'Megapower' is considered to be another feather in Chiranjeevi's cap.
