Why ANM, SRD Hit-Shirdi Sai Flop?

Long back, when King Nagarjuna's 'Shirdi Sai' was in the initial stages of its shoot, we reported in one of our articles that 'Shirdi Sai's hit would be a tough task rather 'Annamayya' and 'Sri Ramadasu'. Everybody knows that Nagarjuna has shown terrific performances in both 'Annamayya' and 'Sri Ramadasu'. Moreover, K.Raghavedra Rao's direction took those movies to another level. Keeravani's melodious and devotional music was another factor for the success of those movies.

Although, above beliefs are said to be the reasons for the successes of 'Annamayya' and 'Sri Ramadasu', there is one striking similarity in both the movies, which is definitely one of the strong reasons for the super hits of the above movies. In 'Annamayya' movie, Ramyakrishna and Kasturi sizzled in the roles of 'maradallu' of Nagarjuna. They showed their oomph factor in the song 'Ele ele maradalaa'. When it comes to 'Sri Ramadasu', no one can forget Sneha and Nagarjuna's romantic song 'Chaalu chaalu chaalu'. Apart from that song, the first half of the movie filled with Nag's 'Rakhthi' with Sneha and 'Bhakthi' with the god.

Nagarjuna's latest devotional flick 'Shirdi Sai' was released recently and received good reviews on its release day. However, the collections of the movie are not up to the mark till day, as expected. Critics say, the movie is completely filled with devotion and is lacking other major ingredients like romance with heroines and duet songs. On the other hand, there are many people, who are saying that the movie is the biography of lord Shirdi Sai Baba and hence, nothing should be shown except devotion and the same was done by the director K.Raghavendra Rao.
