It was 2003. The year turned out to be a gold mine for the distributors and the producers of movies as three movies in that year got blockbuster statuses and they are 'Tagore', 'Simhadri' and 'Okkadu'. Besides, the year had seen some more hits and super hits. Later, in the year, 2006, Telugu cinema shined with the blockbusters like 'Pokiri', 'Bommarillu', 'Vikramarkudu' and 'Devadasu'. Apart from the above movies, the year recorded some more hits and super hits.
Some might think we are declaring too early as '2012, the decade's best year of Tollywood'. However, when we look into the movies which hit the bulls eye this year, everybody must admit this year as the decade's best year for Tollywood. As of now, three movies were proved to be the blockbusters and they are 'Gabbar Singh', 'Rachcha' and 'Eega'. Moreover, 'Gabbar Singh' has almost attained the status of industry biggest hit. In addition to these movies, some more movies like 'Businessman', 'Ishq', 'Poola Rangadu' 'Ee Rojullo' and 'Lovely' got the statuses of hit to super hit. Moreover, 'Dammu', 'Bodyguard' and 'Love Failure' settled at average status.
According to the film critics, if the second half of this year will also get sufficient number of super hits, definitely this year will be considered to be the 'ALL TIME BEST YEAR' for 81 years of Telugu film history. Let us wish Telugu cinema will achieve that rare feat this year.
