Chiru 'Churakalu' at Mohan Babu

When Mohan Babu and Chiranjeevi are around, we don’t see anything new other than sprouting of controversies. Since a long time, we haven’t seen a function where in these two shared a common stage. It’s time for some refreshment and the spar between Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu came open during Akkineni Nageshwar Rao’s 75 years of acting function held at Shilpa Kala Vedika yetserday.

As usual sticking to his own style, Mohan Babu narrated an episode in which Akkineni’s wife Annapurna praised him for peculiar dialogue delivery. ‘She said me…I was the best after NTR in dialogue delivery. So, I am a better actor than ANR and it means my dialogue delivery is better according to her,’ said Mohan Babu. In no time, ANR then chided for the compliment saying, ‘with your compliment this monkey will play havoc.’ Immediately Mohan Babu fell on ANR’s feet and pleaded to ignore the issue but ANR did not and added onto say ‘It is out of jealousy that people talk such things. I just ignore them and I have gone through them many times.’ 

That was not the end, it was rather the beginning. Chiranjeevi took the mike from ANR on request. Given the harsh experiences of Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu involved in arguments at ‘Telugu Cine Vajrotsavam,’ immediately Mohan Babu rushed to the centre stage but Chiranjeevi told him this is going to be a positive one. Chiranjeevi too made comments, rather repeated ANR words saying, ‘ANR had seen a threat in NTR who had charm, voice and expression. But, he managed to remain in industry by selecting roles carefully and remained on top. This is the rare quality an artist should have. Praises by Akkineni’s wife on Mohan Babu should be taken as a mother blessing her son.’ It took some time for people to understand whether it was praise or a rebuke…and people around said this as Chiru ‘Churakalu.’
