The Tamil Nadu Theaters Association has in principle decided to stop screening second shows in the state. The reason is the poor attendance for the night shows in all parts of the state. The president of the association Abhirami Ramanathan said that the cinema hall owners are facing losses due to very low turn out for the night second show. The situation is so bad in many places that the owners are unable to even make enough money to cover even the current bill for the show.
A similar situation was seen in Bengaluru. Many cinema halls stopped screening night second shows due to poor attendance. The situation is not so bad in Andhra Pradesh. But going by the current situation, the day may not be far off when the cinema hall owners in our state too decide to go that way.
