Prabhas Kalki 2 Sparks Buzz Over Dulquer Salmaan Return
Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, became a major pan India blockbuster by blending futuristic science fiction with Indian mythology. Its success created huge expectations for Kalki 2, with audiences closely following every production update surrounding Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan.
Dulquer Salmaan made a memorable cameo as Captain in the first film, portraying Bhairava’s foster father and mentor. Although his appearance was brief, the character became important to Bhairava’s backstory. Nag Ashwin previously said there was scope to expand Dulquer’s character, fuelling speculation about his possible return.
Recent industry buzz suggests Captain could receive greater prominence through Bhairava’s past and flashback sequences, potentially revealing more about their relationship. In recent comments, Nag Ashwin said there would be no new cast additions, making Dulquer’s reported return something fans should treat cautiously.
Kalki 2 is moving toward its next major shooting phase, with regular filming scheduled to begin in October 2026. Nag Ashwin has indicated the production could continue into mid 2027.
