Ram Gopal Varma May Direct Daya Nayak Biopic Film

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is in early talks to direct a biopic on Mumbai encounter specialist Daya Nayak. Reports say a big studio is backing the project. The story will focus on Daya Nayak’s life and work in Mumbai police. Varma is known for making films on Mumbai underworld and police encounters. The team is now working on the script and deciding how to show Daya Nayak’s journey on screen. Nothing is final yet but talks have started again in the last few months.
The idea of this film is old. Back when Varma was making Company in 2002, he wanted to make Company 2 based on encounter specialists. Daya Nayak was even in touch as a consultant at that time. In 2010 also there were talks to connect it with the Company film world. But the project did not move forward then. Now the makers feel it is the right time to bring the story to audience. The script work is the main focus before any casting or shooting decision.
Daya Nayak is one of Mumbai’s most talked-about encounter specialists. His story has action, risk and many real cases from the city’s past. A biopic on him can show the tough side of police work and the choices officers face. Varma has already explored crime and underworld in Satya, Company, D, Satya 2 and D Company. So this subject fits his style of storytelling. Fans expect a gritty and realistic take if the film happens.
Varma is also preparing for his comeback film, Syndicate. While that is in line, Daya Nayak's biopic is in the early discussion stage. If the screenplay is locked and the angle is final, the project can move to the next stage soon. Until then fans will have to wait for an official update from the team.
