Cocktail 2 Set To Open Big At The Box Office

Cocktail 2 is ready to hit theatres on June 19 with big buzz. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna and is directed by Homi Adajania. It is not a direct sequel to the 2012 film Cocktail but a new story with new characters. Advance booking started on June 14 at midnight and fans started booking seats fast. Early reports say more than 12000 tickets were sold for day one across India with around 49 lakh rupees in sales without blocked seats.

With blocked seats added the number goes past 1.8 crore. Trade experts now expect Cocktail 2 to open between 12 to 15 crore net on day one. The numbers may grow more as release date comes closer. Cocktail 2 got an A certificate from CBFC which means it is only for adult viewers. The movie runtime is 150 minutes which is two and half hours. It is four minutes longer than the first Cocktail film.

This is Kriti Sanon first A rated film in her career. For Rashmika it is her second adult film in Hindi after Animal. Shahid Kapoor has done many mature films before like Kaminey, Udta Punjab and Kabir Singh. The story follows Kunal, Diya and Ally whose lives get mixed up with love and friendship issues. Their ten year relationship faces trouble when Ally comes back.

The film is shot in Sicily and Mumbai to give it a big visual feel. Made on a budget of around 150 crore it is one of the costliest Hindi romantic films. Music is by Pritam and Maddock Films and Luv Films are producing it with Sanjay Dutt also in a key role.
