Recently a top media outlet organised a Round Table on film industry and directors from Tollywood and Bollywood discussed the current situation. From Tollywood producer Naga Vamsi, Kollywood Siddharth and from Bollywood Boney Kapoor participated in the event.
With Naga Vamsi taking on Boney Kapoor and reminding him of the stark reality in Bollywood, Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Gupta found fault with Naga Vamsi insulting Boney Kapoor.
Sanjay Gupta posted "Who is this obnoxious guy sitting next to a senior producer like Boney Ji and deriding him with his fake vanity? Look at his body language and disgusting attitude. 4/5 hits dene se yeh Bollywood ke baap nahin bane na banienge (You won't become Bollywood’s boss by producing 4-5 hit films) (sic)."
He questioned Naga Vamsi's attitude and posted "Would he have the guts to sit in front of senior Producers like Allu Arvind Sir or Suresh Babu Sir and speak to them in this manner pointing his fingers in their face. Learn to value RESPECT before SUCCESS (sic)",
In the round table, when Boney Kapoor shared "Telugu films have a unique market in the US, Tamil films have a unique market in Singapore and Malaysia. That is a big chunk of overseas business. And, Gulf, of course, is a Cosmopolitan area."
Naga Vamsi interrupted and said "Gulf has a huge market for Malayalam cinema." for which Siddharth and producer Archana Kalapati agreed. Naga Vamsi continued . "One thing sir, you have to accept this. It might sound really harsh. We, South Indians, have changed the way you [Bollywood] look at cinema. Because, you guys [Bollywood], are stuck in making films for Bandra and Juhu. You witnessed a change with Baahubali, RRR, Animal and Jawan." For which Boney did not agree and said "It's not that."
Naga Vamsi pointed "Sir, after Mughal-E-Azam, you used Baahubali and RRR [as examples], which were Telugu films. You never mentioned a Hindi film after Mughal-E-Azam."
Boney Kapoor went on to add "In this forum, we can't be talking about every bit of knowledge we know. We need to talk in broader terms. When I mention Mughal-E-Azam, Baahubali and all that, it's not that I've missed out on other films. I know those films. At the tip of my fingers, I can rattle out those names. But, it's not like Telugu cinema has taught us. I don't believe that."
"It was always there. Even the hero of Pushpa 2 said that he is a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan. He could have said that he was a big fan of NT Rama Rao." said Naga Vamsi and claimed that he is a fan of Shah Rukh Khan and Allu Arjun is a fan of Chiranjeevi.
