Norah Fatehi dignified role in Matka. Norah Fatehi Aims for "Dignified" Telugu Debut in "Matka" Biopic.
Canadian dancer-turned-actress Norah Fatehi is making her Telugu debut with the ambitious biopic "Matka," aiming to showcase her acting talents beyond her popular dance numbers. The film, directed by Karuna Kumar, tells the story of Ratan Khetri, the mastermind behind Mumbai's notorious "Matka" gambling operation, and features Norah in a significant role as a casino partner.
Director Kumar emphasizes a shift in Norah's portrayal in "Matka." "Her role and dance numbers will be dignified and classy," he states, emphasizing a departure from her previous "racy and sensuous" outings. "We wanted to exploit her histrionic skills and avoid any skin show or reliance on her glam quotient," he explains.
Norah's character, a casino partner, is described as being "almost the second lead" and having "substance" in the period drama. Her saree-clad avatar and retro looks are said to evoke the charm of yesteryear actresses like Savitri, highlighting her transformation into a more traditional and elegant persona.
This new direction is evident in her Telugu song "Le Le Raja" from "Matka," which showcases a more subdued and refined approach compared to her previous glamorous numbers like "Dilbar Dilbar" and "O Saki Saki."
To further solidify her Telugu debut, Norah has diligently learned the language through specialized classes, delivering her dialogues effortlessly on set. "She has put her heart and soul into her performance and she is going to prove her mettle in both dancing and acting skills," concludes director Kumar.
"Matka" promises to be a significant milestone in Norah's career, showcasing her versatility and demonstrating her dedication to making her mark in the Telugu film industry.
