Kangana gets shock in Telugu states. Kangana Ranaut's "Emergency" Faces An Uphill Battle in Telugu States.

Kangana Ranaut's upcoming political thriller "Emergency," despite receiving CBFC certification, is facing an uphill battle for a release in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. While the film has garnered significant attention for its portrayal of the 1975 Emergency, distributors in the region are expressing reservations due to the recent underperformance of Bollywood films featuring female leads.

Following the underwhelming box office performance of Alia Bhatt's "Jigra," Telugu distributors are hesitant to take a risk on another Bollywood actress-led film. "Women-centric movies are not doing well in the Telugu market," states a distributor. "Kangana might need to aggressively promote 'Emergency' in Hyderabad, hosting major events to generate buzz," he suggests.

Adding to the challenges, Kangana's previous releases like "Chandramukhi 2" and "Dhakkad" failed to make a mark in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This, coupled with the general trend of Hindi films struggling for viewership in the region, has led distributors to propose a commission-based release model for "Emergency." This would see the film released in theaters with the makers receiving collections after deducting theater rentals and a commission of 8-10%.

Despite these challenges, the film is expected to find a slightly better reception in Telangana, particularly in the Nizam region, compared to Andhra Pradesh. However, the overall sentiment remains cautious. With discussions ongoing between the Bollywood team and Telugu distributors, the future of "Emergency" in the Telugu states remains uncertain. The success of the film will depend largely on its marketing strategy and ability to overcome the current wave of skepticism surrounding Bollywood releases in the region.
