Indian 3 Might Opt For Direct OTT Release

The highly anticipated sequel Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh, has turned out to be a major disaster at the box office, marking a rare setback in legendary director Shankar's career. Despite being Kamal Haasan's significant release post the blockbuster Vikram, Indian 2 failed to capitalize on the hype surrounding the Indian movie sequel.

Reports suggest that Lyca Productions, the production house behind Indian 2, is facing a significant financial crisis, exacerbated by the film's poor performance. With Indian 2 and Indian 3 having been in production for five years, the losses have mounted. As a result, Kollywood sources indicate that Lyca Productions might consider a direct OTT release for Indian 3.

The production house is pinning its hopes on Shankar's Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, to make a comeback. If Game Changer succeeds, it could improve the prospects of Indian 3's theatrical release. However, depending on the result of Game Changer, Lyca might persuade the parties involved to opt for a direct OTT release. Shankar's reputation as one of India's most celebrated directors might make him resistant to such a compromise.

Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, is looking to move past the disappointment of Indian 2 with Thug Life, directed by Mani Rathnam. The outcome of Game Changer will be crucial in determining Shankar's future plans, including the release strategy for Indian 3.
