Why is Sundeep Kishan taking undue risk

The 2025 Sankranti festival is shaping up to be a box office battleground, with a formidable lineup of films vying for audience attention.

The heavyweights are already in place: Chiranjeevi's "Vishwambhara," Balayya's 109th film, Venkatesh's collaboration with Anil Ravipudi, and Ajith's "Good Bad Ugly"  "Vidaamuyarchi" are confirmed contenders.

But the race just got even more intense with the addition of Sandeep Kishan's "Majaka," directed by Nakkina Trinadha Rao. This film, rumored to be a more entertaining and commercially viable venture than Ravi Teja's "Dhamaka," has already secured a lucrative OTT deal for over 20 crores.

This means the producers are in a safe space, having already recouped their investment. However, the OTT platform's release schedule dictates a January theatrical release, forcing "Majaka" into the Sankranti fray.

While the competition might seem daunting, history has shown that mid-budget films can thrive alongside star-studded releases. Films like "Shatamanambhavati," "Guntur Karam," "Naa Samiranga," and "Saindhav" have all achieved success in the face of box office giants.

The upcoming first-look poster of "Majaka" will undoubtedly generate even more buzz, making it clear that this Sankranti showdown is far from a sure thing. With a diverse range of films and a wealth of talent on display, the battle for Sankranti 2025 promises to be a thrilling spectacle for audiences and industry insiders alike.
