The seemingly strong friendship between director Puri Jagannadh and actor Ravi Teja, forged over decades in Tollywood, has reportedly hit a snag due to a box office clash. While their past collaborations, including "Itlu Sravani Subramanyam," "Idiot," and "Neninthe," remain cherished by fans, a potential rivalry has emerged as their upcoming films, "Double Ismart" and "Mr. Bachchan," are slated for the same release date: August 15th.
Despite "Double Ismart" securing the release date first, Ravi Teja and director Harish Shankar have refused to postpone "Mr. Bachchan," leading to tension between the two camps. Charmme Kaur, a partner at Puri Connects, reportedly attempted to mediate the situation, requesting a postponement from Ravi Teja, but her efforts were unsuccessful.
Adding fuel to the fire, reports suggest that Charmme has unfollowed Harish Shankar and Ravi Teja on Instagram. While it's unclear if she was following them previously, this action is seen as a sign of the growing rift between the two camps.
"Mr. Bachchan" is based on a real income tax raid, while "Double Ismart," a sequel to the blockbuster "iSmart Shankar," features Kavya Thapar and Sanjay Dutt and revolves around an assassin whose brain is switched with a cop.
Box office experts predict that "Double Ismart" is currently leading in pre-release business.
The situation highlights the unpredictable nature of friendships in the film industry, where box office success can sometimes overshadow longstanding relationships. It remains to be seen whether this clash will ultimately damage the friendship between Puri Jagannadh and Ravi Teja or if they will be able to overcome this hurdle.
