Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has tested positive for COVID-19, adding to the recent rise in cases across India. The news comes as a surprise, particularly given the actor's recent busy schedule promoting his latest film "Sarfira," which released in theaters today.

Akshay, who was reportedly feeling unwell for the past few days, will now miss the high-profile wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant scheduled for today, July 12th, at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai.

The actor has been traveling extensively and interacting with numerous individuals for "Sarfira" promotions over the past several weeks. Upon his return to Mumbai, he underwent a COVID test, which unfortunately came back positive.

Akshay has since isolated himself at his Mumbai residence and is under the care of his doctors, following their recommended precautions. He has also postponed all post-release promotions for "Sarfira" to prioritize his health and recovery.

"Sarfira," a remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil film "Soorarai Pottru," is directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the original version. The film stars Paresh Rawal, Radhika Madan, and features a special cameo by Suriya.
