Actor-producer Rana Daggubati and director Nag Ashwin recently graced the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, where Rana opened up about his health struggles in the past. Having undergone a kidney transplant a few years ago and a cornea transplant at a young age, Rana candidly shared how his illness had a profound impact on his outlook towards life, transforming him into a different person.

Reflecting on his time at the Mayo Clinic in the US, Rana expressed how being in a life-threatening situation shifted his perspective on life. "You look at life differently," he remarked, emphasizing the change in his worldview. "Till then, everything I built or moved me forward had me in the centre. But you realise that’s not how things should be," he added, highlighting the profound realization he had during his illness.

Despite the physical toll his illness took on him, Rana also spoke about the emotional toll, admitting that he turned into a "mean person." He shared how his physical transformation for "Baahubali" raised concerns among people, leading to uncomfortable questions about his health. "It was harder for me to live with people in the city, it was too much. I started becoming a slightly mean person," he confessed, acknowledging the challenging period he went through.

However, Rana found solace and healing during the shooting of Prabhu Solomon’s Tamil film "Kaadan," which was released as "Aranya" in Telugu and "Haathi Mere Saathi" in Hindi. He described the experience of shooting in the jungle for almost a year, surrounded by nature and elephants, as therapeutic. "Nobody judged me there, nobody there cared if I was sick. The silence there is what I needed in my life. Nature is a greater healer than anything else," he remarked, highlighting the transformative power of nature in his healing journey.
