It is Loyal Arjun Reddy/ Kabir Singh vs Brutal Animal. Sandeep Reddy Vanga's latest creation Animal is going on rampage at the box office. The film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol which released on 1 December is shaking the box office despite the A certificate.
This happens to be his second film, after hs created a sensation with Vijay Devarakonda, Shalini Pandey's Arjun Reddy which was later remade as Kabir Singh with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. Sandeep faced criticism for showing lead character in Arjun Reddy as a misogynist. He is facing the same criticism for showing the lead character in Animal in the similar manner.
But if we look at the comparisons, in Arjun Reddy/ Kabir Singh the protagonists are more loyal while in Animal, the protagonist is extremely brutal.
How Arun Reddy/ Kabir Singh is Loyal
Arjun Reddy did not create trouble and murder anyone brutally.
He was loyal to his lady love and suffered heartbreak when separated from her.
There was only one scene, in which he slapped his lady love out of frustration, and fear of losing her and everyone made a huge scene.
As a doctor when Medical Council conducts an inquiry after he conducts surgery in an inebriated state, he does not use his influence to get out of it. Instead, he confessed his guilt and suffered when the Council canceled his license.
Arjun Reddy behaved like a true lover and this has been highlighted throughout during his romance with his lover.
The film ended with Arjun Reddy knowing that his lady love was waiting for her and he and his family accepted her.
How Animal is Brutal
Protagonist Ranvijay Singh craves for the love of his father. He shows his frustration of not getting what he wanted on others and takes out his anger on other people.
Ranvijay Singh said he loved the girl whom he gets married. But their love was not shown in any manner and she just runs away from her house the next scene.
In all the scenes featuring Ranvijay Singh and his wife Geethanjali, more than love, they talk of se3 and only intimate scenes are highlighted in the name of love.
Unlike Arjun Reddy where the protagonist loves his lady love, Ranvijay Singh often insults his wife in front of all and even indulges in domestic violence when he hears his wife's parents talk of second marriage. This shows his violent nature and not caring nature.
He has anger management issues and instead of addressing it,he flaunts it on his chest, taking about underwear and other things and the conversation with the counselor/ doctors in the hospital shows it all.
To resolve any problem, Ranvijay Singh talks of only firing on all cylinders rather than resolve the issue. His only motto is to murder anyone who talk against him.
For all his so-called love for his father, the bonding between father and son is not highlighted properly and it took a backstage with Ranvijay indulging in intimate scenes, extra marital affair (Which Arjun Reddy never did) and brutal killings and conveniently supports his actions saying he did all this for his dad. There is no place in his life for his wife or lover.
