State Information and Technology Minister Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday released water into the left and right canals of the Nagarjunasagar project.

 Since Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah is in New Delhi, the IT Minister has been directed to release the water at the scheduled time to help the farming sector in the state.

 The minister formally released 3972 cusecs of water for irrigation under phase I, it is learnt. The Nagarjunasagar has a storage capacity of 590 feet height and currently, it has a storage of 504 feet. Currently, the inflow into the Sagar reservoir stood at 68, 504 cusecs while the outflow is 13, 135 cusecs.
