Recent showers in the higher reaches of catchment areas have enabled significant inflow into all major water reservoirs iun the state, indicated Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah here on Saturday.
The minister reviewed the over all rains across the state, heavy water inflows and the floods situation with his officials.
The water level in Srisailam Reservoir at Kurnool is showing 841.5 feet mark, which is quite below the danger level. However, Flood Control officials have issued alert for villages downstream, which may overflow.
The inflows at the project have registered 2.66 lakh cusecs. However, the Minister said about 70 TMC water is reaching the project.
The irrigation authorities on Saturday lifted 50 gates of the Priyadarshini Jurala project in Mehbubnagar due to heavy inflows into it following the release of huge flood waters from Almatti project dam at Narayanipur.
While 1 lakh 90,000 cusecs water is reaching the project, the officials have so far released 3 lakh cusecs of floodwaters downstream.
Similarly, inflows have reached the Kadem project in Adilabad forcing the officials to release 1.5 lakh cusecs of water by lifting 14 gates since Saturday morning.
The water level at Tungabhadra stood at 1.618 feet. The Irrigation officials have recorded 70,137 cusecs of water. However, a decision with regard to the release of water to Nagarjuna ayacut would be taken very soon, the Minister averred.
