Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas suffered a major blow when he lost the Assembly seat from Nizamabad Urban constituency.
D.Srinivas lost the election to his Bharatiya Janata Party counterpart Yendala Lakshminarayana by a margin of 12,600 votes.
This is a big setback to DS’ political career as this contest was a do-or-die battle for the PCC chief. His political career almost seems to be at the end of the road.
Srinivas failed to get himself nominated either to the Council or for thr Rajya Sabha.
With the election results going against him, his political career is at the cross-roads. Now, Srinivas will have neither the backing of the party High Command nor the strength in the State to stage a comeback to active politics.
The PCC chief, who was gunning for the Deputy Chief Minister’s post before the elections, now will find it difficult to save his face in the party circles. All said and done, it’s time for him to lie low till he gets another chance to prove his leadership.
