The powers to cancel minws lease rest with the Centre and not with the State governments, Chief Minister K Rosaiah made it clear here on Saturday.
Interacting with the media, the CM said mining activities were halted temporarily as they are planning to go for a resurvey.
As many residential colonies and a railway track happened to fall under the Bayyaram mines, a resurvey was ordered, Rosaiah averred.
When the media asked him how the land was allotted and why, the CM evaded the questions saying he does not have all the details.
Later, the CM left for Haridwar to perform Siva puja there. The CM is expected to return to Delhi late in the night.
