Communist Party of India state general secretary Narayana on Saturday urged the government to take disciplinary action against Srikakulam District Collector and Superintendent of Police holding them responsible for the firing on farmers at Gollagandi village in Sompeta mandal on July 14.
Narayana who submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister K Rosaiah at his Camp Office told newsmen that strong action should be taken against those who were responsible for the police firing in Sompeta.
Terming the police action on villagers as `unwarranted’ and ‘unfortunate’, Narayana urged the government to pull out the police forces from Sompeta as soon as the mandal returns to normal.
The Cpi leader sought a judicial probe into the incidents by a sitting High Court judge and demanded action against the guilty.
On the construction of illegal irrigation project at Babli in Maharashtra on Godavari river, the Left leader opined that all-party leaders should launch a collective fight against the Maharashtra Government to halt the construction.
