Communist Party of India State Council on Friday clarified that none of its MLAs joined the Babli Bus Yatra being led by Telugu Desam supremo N Chandrababu Naidu.

The Council, in a press note stated that sharing the irrigation water was a major  issue and there should be fair play from all concerned. Urging the Maharashtra and AP Governments to abide by the decisions of the Central Water Commission and the Supreme Court, the Council alleged that the Maharashtra Government was not abiding the instructions of the apex court.

“This will adversely affect the interests of the peasants in Telangana area. People are agitated for quite some time. The Cpi and other parties plan to join the all-party delegation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his intervention,'' it said.

Earlier, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, along with 74 party MPs, MLAs and MLCs, were arrested by the Maharashtra police as they crossed the inter-state border enroute Babli Project.
