The by-election for Munugode constituency in Telangana state is completed yesterday and after the bitter and fiery campaigning from the lead parties TRS, BJP and others, all are keeping their fingers crossed. Mungode constituency is witnessing a high-octane fight between TRS candidate Kusukuntla Prabhakar and BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy. Munugde went to polls as Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned from the Congress party forcing the poll just a year before the general elections.
The exit polls are out and almost all the polls are predicting a clear winner. The three surveys undertaken by SAS group, Third Vision, and HMR predicted TRS candidates to win comfortably with the following vote share. Here are the exit poll results.
SAS Group
TRS (41%) BJP (35%) Congress (16.5%)
Third Vision
TRS (48%) BJP (31%) Congress (13%)
HMR
TRS (42.13%) BJP (31.98%) Congress (21.06%)
The question is, if this turns out to be true then it will be a big jolt to the BJP which is keen to wrest the state from TRS in the next elections. This also proves that people are against parties forcing byelections in the name of proving or testing their strength in the electoral field.
