The Election Commission on Friday pulled up Medak MP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader Vijaya Shanti and Sanga Reddy (East) MLA Jayaprakash Reddy for their controversial statements in contravention of the model code of conduct.

 Chief Electoral officer IV Subba Rao told media persons that the two legislators, as per media clippings, were found making statements in violation of the poll code. They were pulled up for violating the EC rules and let off as their first mistake.

 However, the EC will take stringent action against them for similar offence in future, Rao added. The election officials have been directed to initiate prompt action against any violation of election rules, Rao added.
