Bandh partial in Nizamabad

With the Model code of conduct in force, the Bharat Bandh called in protest against the rise in prices did not have much impact on the residents of Nizamabad here on Monday. Attendance in the Government offices and educational institutions was thin.

The residents were cautioned by the police that cases would be booked against those staging dharnas or rasta-rokos as election model code of conduct is in force.

Except for the Communist Party of India no other party took part in the bandh.

Coinciding with the Bharat bandh, another bandh was called by the Maoists in protests against the killing of Chekuri Azad in Adilabad forest on Friday last.In view of the bandh calls, the RTC has suspended its services in Nizamabad district.
