While the response to the Bharat Bandh call in Hyderabad was more or less partial on Monday, the State Government took some extra precautions to foil the shut-down in the city by arresting prominent leaders in the city.
As a first step in this regard, the police personnel arrested Bharatiya Janata Party State president Kishen Reddy at his house as a preventive move against the bandh call and confined him to his house.
Although Kishen Reddy did not come out of the house to take part in the bandh, at least 15 police personnel surrounded his house, thus preventing the leader from escaping from his house. The house arrest of the Bjp leader is seen as a tactical government move to prevent the bandh impact in the Twin Cities. The move created a flutter among party activists outside the residence of the Bjp leader all through the morning.
The police also arrested Telugu Desam leader N Chandrababu Naidu from Ameerpet Junction in the morning while Naidu and a group of TDP activists were participating in a sit-in at the junction.
Communist Party of India state secretary Narayana and his followers were arrested while he was protesting against the hike in petroleum prices at RTC Crossroads.
